Positive Thinking Fails the Law of Attraction

Is positive thinking the correct way to achieve good things through the Law of Attraction? We may have heard it. Think of good things, ignore your negative thoughts and emotions and you’ll soon reap a harvest of blessings and happiness. But is this the way it really works? If we could really just avoid the seemingly negative thoughts and emotions we encounter, then we’ll have no need to even summon this Law of Attraction. In fact, we’ll have no need of anything more because we’d have had everything we’ve ever wanted in the first place!

The reason why we want to reach for that star is because we are in the dark. The reason why we desire to be healed is because we feel sick within. If we can just “be” in the light in an instant, why wouldn’t we?

Yet for all of us here suffering the pull of the duality of light and darkness, of joy and suffering, of every ebb and tide of positive and negative things, we desire to know how we can get outside the tunnel of darkness into the light of joy and peace we’ve always desired.

In order to get to our desired end, we must have power to propel us. And this power is no other than our emotions in its purest forms.

What are these forms? One is happiness or joy. I believe this is what proponents of positive thinking meant to convey. In my own words however, I would like to rephrase this as “positive feeling”. One happiness builds up to another. When we are in a state of bliss, we can’t help but attract to us even more wonderful things, things beyond our wildest imaginings!

Yet we must remember that the pendulum is not frozen because it continues to swing back and forth. This is duality and the polarity of things. How then to surmount the challenge when the pendulum swings into the opposite direction after our moment of bliss?

The answer lies in transmutation.

We do not ignore what is actually there. We do not pretend that the pendulum has stopped. On the other hand, we accept what is. We embrace the ebb of negative feelings and then we transmute these into good.

When we are on the other side of the pendulum, we feel terrible. There is often a confusion of various emotions we cannot even understand or distinguish from one another. There may be anger, fear, despair, exasperation, exhaustion, loneliness. These are the emotions that need to be transmuted into its purest form.

In my own experience, this form is called grief.

Unlike anger, grief does not desire destruction. Unlike despair, it does not rob us of our hope. Grief simply tells us what is, at the present moment. Grief, like joy, allows us to be purified through our tears. Grief frees us and gives us power because it reminds us to ask what it is we truly desire.

Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. (Luke 6:20-21)

Jesus never said it is holy for us to remain in our poverty. He never said it is God’s will for us to remain in our hunger. But He did say that those who hunger shall be filled, and those who weep shall laugh again.

This is one of the gifts given to HSPs (highly sensitive persons), those who experience emotions in a more intense way than other people. In my previous article on HSPs, I’ve discussed how being an HSP can be viewed as a curse in view of the person’s difficulty in being susceptible to extreme emotions. However, this tendency is indeed a gift as well, if the person can steer his emotions into the purest forms of emotional power that can propel her to her heart’s desires.

Is there anything that’s been bothering you lately? Do you feelt that you are so far away from the happiness that other people seem to possess?

Try to have a good cry. When you reach the purity of grief, joy is never too far away. When you understand what it is your heart is truly longing for, the answer to your desires are never too far on the way.

God is good. He gives us the means to achieve the fullness of life He intends for us to have here on earth. Whether we are happy or sad, whether we cry in joy or in pain, He is with us, guiding us to the fulfillment of His great plans.

… for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust…Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:44-45,48)

The Principle of Cause and Effect

Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause;

everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name

for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation,

but nothing escapes the Law.”–The Kybalion.

Indeed, for every action there is a corresponding reaction.

What you sow, you reap.

Ours is freedom, but we cannot escape the consequences of our choices.

Why then was it so difficult to understand

that for every evil that you do,

evil awaits you

to bring you the just effect

of what you have done?

This is the Law.

An eye for an eye

and a tooth for a tooth.

Must you escape pain

when it is pain that you caused?

Must you escape death

when it is death that you deserve?

Yea, those who live by the sword

shall die by the sword as well.

And if this be so,

why then is it difficult to understand

that man in his fallen state

could not possibly redeem himself,

that man has defied God from the very beginning,

and from what he has done,

he shall reap what he has sown?

Why then is it difficult to understand

that though we deserve death

as we have without doubt caused it,

there is One who took the suffering

that was meant to be ours,

there is One who died for us,

for us who deserve nothing but death

for what we have done?

We cannot escape the Law,

but there is another Law which the God of Mercy instituted,

and by this Law of Love and Sacrifice,

it is God Himself who took the punishment that is due to man

so that in His Love,

we can find freedom from our own sins,

so that by the Blood of the Lamb,

instead of death,

we can find NEW LIFE!

The Law of Attraction and the Key of Transmutation

The law of attraction states that objects of similar vibration attract one another (like attracts like). But the problem is this-HOW can you ever CHANGE your vibration in order to attract that which you desire? The answer is in the key of TRANSMUTATION, that ancient process from alchemy that dares to change ordinary metal into gold, that dares to seek the elixir of life to cure all diseases and to restore even the aged back unto eternal youth.

If we look around, we can see that the problem of manifesting your desires is indeed a problem in achieving TRANSITION from one point in life into another, a transition similar to what we know as TRANSMUTATION. Are you trying to attract wealth? Then you are trying to TRANSMUTE from poverty into abundance, almost literally following the old concept of transmuting ordinary metal into gold. Are you trying to attract good relationships? Then you are trying to TRANSMUTE from emptiness to belongingness, or from a painful relationship into a smoother one. Are you trying to attract enlightenment? Then you are trying to TRANSMUTE from ignorance to wisdom, from low consciousness into a higher one.

TRANSMUTATION is transition. Transmutation is change. In the case of the Law of Attraction, it is the much desired and much required change in one’s vibration in order to attract the things you wish to manifest. This change in vibration does not happen instantaneously though. It does not just happen the moment you learned about the law and you desired to leap unto the bandwagon of people waiting for magic to happen to them the moment they received the good news. As there are laws to attraction, there are also principles to transmutation.

Basically, there are TWO KINDS of transmutation. The first is the TRANSMUTATION of the ELEMENTS which germinates from the power of thought. This is the transformation of matter into another form, the transformation of water into wine, the parting of the waters of the sea to give way to people trapped in the midst of a desert. The second one is the TRANSMUTATION of the SPIRIT. This is the kind of transformation emanating from the ABSOLUTE, which for now we shall call as DIVINE ESSENCE or LOVE. This is the kind of transformation we undergo from being a non-believer to a people of faith, from cowardice to bravery, from powerlessness to strength, from darkness to enlightenment.

Unfortunately however, the general thinking today only presumes the TRANSMUTATION of the first kind, which is the transmutation of the elements. We think that since we can control our thoughts, our thoughts could in turn control these elements to give us what we command it to render. And to further defend this thinking, there are principles describing the existence of a subconscious mind, which is also a thought that controls our conscious thoughts programmed through the years since our childhood into the way it is running today. Thus it is explained that the key to transform your thoughts is to transform the subconscious mind. Considering however how well formed this subconscious mind is, you can well imagine its resistance and the effort needed to wield it into the kind of mind we wish it to be. Hence lies our failure in the transmutation of the thought.

What we failed to consider however is something beyond “thought”, something that is even beyond the subconscious thought that resists our conscious intentions and commands. We failed to give weight to our SPIRIT, which is the real key to transmuting even our deepest thoughts.

Have you ever been explained something so logically and rationally correct but you failed to believe in it anyways? Had it been only your thought that really counts, even a subconscious one, you would have needed only to digest what has been explained, repeat it and convince yourself of the soundness of the principle explained to you. It would have been that simple. But is it? Is a sound explanation everything we need in order to really believe? What if we have a lesser level of intellect? A lesser consciousness or understanding perhaps? How do we imbibe and receive what we have been fed in order to influence the strong subconscious mind?

Jesus spoke about this in the Gospels when he talked about being “born again” in the Spirit.

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew. The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I told you earthly things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3:6-12, American Standard SpeedBible)

Now the process of actual TRANSMUTATION of the SPIRIT is another area of lengthy discussion and analysis. But what I can give to you now are three important conditions for which a TRANSMUTATION may be able to take place.

1. MALLEABILITY

Before one can be transmuted, one must be capable of being formed. Rigidity is the first problem of transmutation. Where one is not willing to be processed and moulded, transition cannot take place. This is the reason why pain sometimes serves a useful purpose to us. This pain, this brokenness breaks our rigidity, softens us in a way, opens us and allows us to be transformed.

2. PURITY

Purity in this sense means letting go of all the excess matter that clings to us and allowing our true essence to break through. In order to be transmuted, our true self and composition must be exposed. If not, the process may not be fit to our true condition. It can even destroy us.

3. TENACITY

Though one must be malleable and flexible enough, one must also be tenacious enough in order to survive the process one must undergo. Change is never an easy thing. It often requires the shaving away of the excess dross that clings to our true element. It often requires that we be crushed, folded or hammered in order to mould us into our better form. It requires that we endure the present pain and trust the transmutation taking place.

TRANSMUTATION is not a new thing. It is a procees as old as time itself, as old as the earth created by the Divine Transmuter of All. And what could it not achieve if a being as exquisite as a man can be TRANSMUTED from the dust from which he came?
