Why God Chooses The Most Unlikely People For The Job

unlikelypeoplejob

Have you ever noticed how God chooses the people he’d send for an important mission?  More often than not, these chosen people seem to be the most unlikely ones for the job.  Take the example of his chosen disciples.  Most of them are simple fishermen.  He could have chosen more educated men, priests, or more influential men so as to help him spread the message of the Gospel more expediently. But He did not.  Instead, God chose the humblest amongst his people and ignored the claims of the proud.

Why does God choose the most unlikely people for the job?

1.  God often use the weakest among us so that we’d know how His power works.  If He would always choose only the brightest and the strongest men, people may soon forget from whom true leadership and power comes from.  People would look up to men instead of looking up to God.

What is wrong with this?  If there are men who are really competent and able, what is wrong with looking up to their qualifications alone?  It is not that they have no capacity for the job, but that no matter how good or excellent people could be, even if we become the best in our fields of expertise, our capacities and powers are still limited.  There would come a time when you’ll find that even if you have the best tools, those tools aren’t enough to accomplish your task.  That is why people often blame their leaders no matter how hard they seem to try.  People blame them because they’ve felt frustrated, because the people they chose are but human and imperfect after all.

We can search for hope in the strongest of places, and in the best of people, and they shall fall one by one. Only God suffices. Only God.

2.  God does not look at the external qualifications men look at in choosing the best people for the job.  What are these qualifications we look for?  Intelligence, wit, charm, strength, wealth, fame, power – such are the things that make us put our faith in men.  But God knows better.  God knows He can bestow all these things to anyone, and so He looks for one quality we often fail to see.  God looks at the heart. God looks at our willingness to do good and to put our trust in Him.  God looks at our willingness to be used for the best possible intentions God could ever have for us.

Take a look at what God said to His prophet Samuel while he was looking for the next king of Israel:

When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.”

But the LORD said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Have you ever felt unworthy of being called for a mission?  Take heart, for God can use even the weakest among us in order to accomplish his greatest plans.  It is not how you look, or how strong or talented you are, or how old you are that matters.  What matters is that you are willing – that is all that is asked of you.

@RAJ – Thanks Raj, I’m glad you’ve dropped by 🙂 I use wordpress, so I just copy-pasted the fanbox code at the singlepost template by entering the ‘Edit Theme’ function.

I than God for your inspiring website. God does choose those who are the most unlikely amongst a crowd. I am blessed to be one of those who he has chosen. I was not trying to be picked but here I am and I am surely grateful.

When I asked God why He chose me I was told the main reason was that I was looking for the truth.I certainly was not looking for God but he blessed me and I am forever grateful

my mother died went to heaven as was told not yet. she came back into her body & her son was born on united nations day. I seen fire come out of the sky on route 89 & 2 in a farmers field as a small circle it got larger which means the whole world on fire. I had a dream Christians on crosses asking for my help.. my last dream was jewish rabbis asking me to come to Israel. never made it to Israel but when I was a certain age I prayed for the locusts to come to Egypt after while on the radio THEY SAID LOCUSTS CAME IN EGYPT. GOD HAD CHOSE HIS LAST FISHERMAN TO TEACH THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD A LESSON OF A MAN WHO WAS A POOR CHILD & WOULD BE STUBBORN TO DIE FOR HIS NAME .I will keep praying for chastisement until my brother jesus Christ has taken away the church & say merry Christmas. I went through being whipped by my father to prepare me for all the trials & tribulations I would go threw with. the nations of the world will see more of this hurricane, earthquake, tornadoe, & volcanoes erupting for sin is great in the world. the arab does not want peace so they will finally with the rest of the world go to war. I do this to try to get people around the world to repent of their sins before the anti-Christ & the false prophet take over the world to take their souls. Christian love roger isaac

Hello! I could hav sworn I’ve visited this website before but after looking at many of thhe articles I realized it’s new to me.
Regardless, I’m certainly delighted I stumbled upon iit and
I’ll be bookmarking it and checking back frequently!

With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or
copyright infringement? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve
either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is
popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any
techniques to help protect against content from
being stolen? I’d really appreciate it.

Well put, specifically in regard to, “…people may soon forget from whom true leadership and power comes from. People would look up to men instead of looking up to God.” This is an important message for those, both strong and weak, to keep in mind.

That being said, I disagree with your choice of words in “God often use [sic] the weakest among us so that we’d know how His power works.” If we’re to take your statement I’ve referenced above into consideration, each and every man is “weaker” than God, therefore, each and every man is held, and prone to, the same limitations and inadequacies.

To make a distinction between, “the weakest among us” and, “the brightest and the strongest” is confusing. Aren’t we all, both the “weakest among us” and “the brightest and the strongest”, eclipsed by God? And, therefore, those chosen for any task are just as well-suited as any other?

Thank you for writing something that got the gears turning. Deadwood is a great program, if you’re still unfamiliar.
