I Will Smile Again! (poem)

I will smile again

Though tears flow from these eyes

I will smile again

And trust tomorrow the sun shall rise

Though darkness may enfold me

Though heavy rain can’t help but pour

Though shattered, lost and broken

Though heart could barely bear it all

Though tired and weary and confused

Though badly hurt and bruised

I know that I will smile again

And I will smile again!

When you’re hurt, know that darkness is passing. Poems on hurt feelings remind you this- that you WILL SMILE AGAIN!

Goodnight My Dear!

Goodnight my dear

I’m glad I have you near

For the many things you’ve brought me

There’s nothing I shall fear

Goodnight my dear

Let my songs wipe your tears

We’ve certainly got each other

And we always shall through the years

Goodnight my dear

Let my prayer bring you cheer

The moon is bright and the stars are shining

And they bless us always here :-)

Of pain and pleasure

Pain and pleasure, both seem to tempt us

distracting us from our true and lasting joys.

Pleasure alone, brought by the senses

cannot make us truly happy.

They accompany us for a while,

but are soon forgotten

and we weep not for loss of their memory.

Pain on the other hand inflicts our soul

and we cry out for justice,

we seek for God’s goodness.

What makes us happy then

if not the passions of our flesh?

It is the thought we render

upon whatever sensations that come our way,

the light by which our souls perceive true beauty,

by which love is revealed unto us,

changing us,

etching eternity unto our hearts.

It is thus that pain and pleasure become meaningful

even to be vehicles of good

It is thus when pain

reminds us

of the frailty of our pleasures

and how we should seek the things

that will truly last.

It is thus when the pleasure

of seeing a beautiful rose

sinks deep into our soul,

for then a rose is no longer just a rose,

but a gift most warmly and generously given,

always to remind us

how sweetly

and how strongly

we have been loved.

Where the sidewalk ends

Where the Sidewalk Ends (by Shel Silverstein)

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright

And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends

Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

IMAGINE

french_desert_9.jpg

Imagine a world

where you can’t bring anything

you ever owned

not one valued possession

not a single penny you can toss

Imagine a world

where titles and status mean nothing

where authority belongs not to you

Imagine a world

where no man stands taller than another

and where beauty comes not only from you

Imagine a world where you can’t hide anything

nor busy yourself with things that make you forget

just how empty you are within

how angry

how insecure

or how afraid

Imagine such a world

And then try to  imagine once more

Imagine a world where no one starves

nor longs for shelter

where no one gets sick

and no one ever grows old

Imagine no pain

and no death ever

that would make you weep

a world where you need not

depart from home

from the people you love the most

imagine never having to be alone

Imagine a world

where you are accepted and understood

for who you really are

Imagine you are loved

like you have never been loved before

Imagine such a world

and then open up your eyes

What do you see?

What is it that you truly desire to do?

Whatever Happens?

877605_beauty_of_autumn.jpg

What is the meaning of our life

if we are but a mist that quickly goes away

like a rose that blooms but for a day

What does it matter then that we have

ever passed this way?

Whatever happens

to the smiles we have smiled

to the tears we have cried

Whatever happens

to dreams we dreamt and reached

to failures that turned out bitter-sweet

Whatever happens to raindrops that fell

if thou shall not rise again towards heaven

and be made purer than it has ever been

Whatever happens

O whatever happens

if thy fallen soul

shall not be redeemed

Yea by now I can only pray

I can only believe

that everything is not meaningless

that there is reserved a destiny

even for a withered flower

even for mist that quickly goes away

I don’t know

At times the wisest of answers
lies in these simple words:
i do not know

I do not know what happens after death
of whether the soul remains awake
of whether soul and body awaits
to be awakened in the last day

I do not know what judgment looms before us
or what mercies await us in our Father’s
loving arms

I only believe in this -
that death can be likened unto sleep
and that it is in the nature
of life to go on

night may come
but day comes as well to awaken
winter may fall
yet spring comes again
whence flowers bloom into their full blossom

I only believe in this-
that perfect love casts away all fear
and therefore, there is no fear in love

Glady and peacefully then
can I sleep
Joyfully and sweetly then
can I wait for the morning
