When Nothing Shall Stand In Your Way

blessedday2

“…delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” -Psalm 37:4, WEB-BE

To be deprived of good things all our lives could make us reach a point when we finally want to have things our way. Not that we don’t care about others, but we want others also to care about us. Deep within us, there may be that great need to be loved and to be provided for.

We must be careful though not to let this great thirst cloud our better judgment. For not everything we want could really be good for us. And being deprived of some things could be a great blessing in disguise.

Our healing then is not to have things our way all the time in this life, but to be provided more and more with things that are really good for us. We need to be able to let love enter in so we could be nourished from within our hearts.

Someday in God’s time, when things are made new, when every desire has already been purified, we shall finally have all that we want. At that time, nothing shall stand in our way because our desires shall finally meet with the perfect desires of our loving God.

“For, in regard to that little of your will which you now willingly forsake, you shall forever have your will in Heaven. For there you shall find all that you will, all that you can desire. There you shall enjoy the possession of every good without fear of losing it… There no one shall resist you, no one shall complain of you, none shall obstruct you, nothing shall stand in your way: but every good that you desire shall be present at the same time, and shall replenish all your affections, and fully satiate them.” – Thomas Kempis, The Imitation of Christ
