The Courage To Love

To love is to not be afraid. It is to be far more courageous than you ever thought you could be. – Jocelyn Soriano

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1, WEBBE

Love is not a mere sentiment. It is not something that merely makes us feel all good and light inside, something that warms us on a rainy day. Love is so much more than that!

Love is the fire that propels us onwards, it is the strength that helps us bear the storm. Love is the power that changes us for the better, that inspires us to sacrifice something we hold dear for the sake of our beloved ones.

Love is that courage we have to defend our loved ones, to stay with them even if we get nothing in return. For the reward of love is love itself. And its happiness is always in the heart of the one it loves.

“Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

We can learn to be less afraid of fear – especially by meeting it with love. – Stephanie Dowrick
