Unmasked (Poem)

Unmasked (A Poem)

In order to be beautiful,
must it also be complex and unfathomable?
In order to be profound
must it also be beyond comprehension?

Many times, we judge someone
by the clothes they wear,
by the accessories they have.

And we don’t appreciate
those that are simple,
those who have taken off their masks.

Maybe it’s because we’re afraid,
afraid of the plain truth.
We’re afraid of being stripped naked,
of being found out
for who we really are.

That’s the reason
we hide behind our words,
our titles, our positions
and our complexities.

That’s the reason
we hide behind our age,
our maturity, our trophies
and our victories.

Because we don’t want anyone
to ever get through.
We’re afraid of anyone
who can see our sorrows
our failures, and our broken hearts.

We talk like adults
because we’re afraid of little children.
We walk like strong men,
because we’re afraid to stumble in the light.

This One Moment

I’d like to share with you the first poem that would appear on my new YouTube channel. I really worked hard to produce this video using my own voice in recording. It’s just a one minute poem, but I hope that it could somehow bring you a feeling of warmth and hope today.

For those who are missing a loved one, I dedicate this poem, “Not for One Moment.” Please like and share.

This Warrior

This warrior is old and weary
Her heart is bleak and sad
Her feet are bruised and bleeding
Tired of all the places that she trod.

O, where is rest when you need it?
Where is silence when things are bad?
For someone who longs for shelter
It’s enough to sleep beneath the stars.

To sleep and dream of the good old days
To watch the sunrise when you awake
What blessed day when wounds are healed
When hope returns and you forget your fears.

Yet time goes on when rest is over
When you need to hold that sword again
And you fight on for all that you care for
With every ounce of strength that still remains.

Go On, You Pure of Heart

Go on your way
You who are pure of heart.
There is no need to fear
No need to dread your path.

Just do what you can
Do everything you could.
Though the road may grow dark
Keep on fighting for what is good.

Though you may not seem strong
Though may not seem tall
There will be a way to soar
As you’ve never done before.

And when all seems hopeless
When the battle seems endless
Know then the might of light
For you will never be alone.

Stand firm and stay true
There will be those who’d fight for you.
Just go on, O pure of heart
For God will make a way for you.

Sing Me a Korean Song ( a poem)

Sing me a Korean song,
the one I don’t fully understand;
Some words may sound familiar
But most I cannot comprehend.

Still sing me that song –
The one whose melody I’d cry for,
The one whose words I’d sigh for,
If I had known them all.

Sing me a Korean song,
The kind that sounds so true…
Somewhere, somehow
Some good things still get through.

Sometimes I need not know;
Sometimes I must believe.
Sometimes you understand
By trusting what you feel.

So sing me a Korean song,
The one that makes the young girls cry.
My tears will know just when to fall;
My heart will hear the beauty of it all.
