When You Feel Like It’s Never Enough

Have you ever felt those times when what you’re doing never seems to be enough? You did all you could; you did your very best! Still, you see no results for your labor. You’ve worked night and day yet you cannot see any reward for your effort. The poem below was inspired by this thought. I hope that somehow, even when it gets really difficult, we still find hope to carry on.

It Was Enough

I’d like you to know
That what you did was enough.
It may not seem so,
It may not feel so,
But with all the love you’ve got,
What you did was enough.
I’d like you to know
That someone saw
That someone heard…
Someone stood by you as you toiled
And though you may not think so
What you did was enough.

Cast away your regrets;
Try to forgive and forget.
You have done what you could;
You have done your very best.
Here I am thanks to you;
Here I am, and now I tell you:
You need not go on hurting
You need not go on weeping.
Someone up there
Has heard your prayer,
And for all the love you’ve got
What you did had been enough.

But I said, “I have laboured in vain.
I have spent my strength in vain for nothing;
yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD,
and my reward with my God.”

It’s Dark, It’s Cold, It’s Sad

Today, I’d like to share a poem I’ve made while reflecting upon the dark situation where many people are. These are the people who are in deep poverty, those who are abandoned, those who are sick and have no one to help them.

It is very difficult to reconcile such suffering with our faith in a Good and Compassionate God. But somehow, it is precisely this darkness that helps us believe that there is something more to this life. Sometimes, it is darkness that gives way to the light of faith.

It’s Dark, It’s Cold, It’s Sad

It’s dark
It’s dark
It’s dark,
And yet it’s because it’s dark
That I have hoped for light.

It’s cold
It’s cold
It’s cold
And yet it’s because it’s cold
That I have hoped for warmth.

It’s sad
It’s sad
It’s sad
And yet it’s because it’s sad
That I have hoped for joy.

Those Sad Memories

it's okay to cry 2012

Those sad memories, do you want to keep them?
What if by magic, you can wish them all away?
Would you rather that they stay?

Those sad memories, they are holding you back aren’t they?
What if you can set yourself free one day?
And know it’s not too late?

But those sad memories, they came with something else didn’t they?
What if losing your happy mem’ries is the price you have to pay?
Would you wish them all away?

Your sad memories, must you throw them all away?
What if they came from moments where there is both joy and pain?
Priceless moments you’d wish to keep for the rest of your days?

One Day More

One day more, do it for one day more
Even when you feel like giving up
Even when you’ve tried so many times before
Won’t you give it one more shot?

One day more, do it for one day more
Even when you think you’ve done all these before
Even when you feel all your efforts were ignored
One fine day you may just reach what you’re searching for.

So do it, risk it, believe it!
Even just for today, try to give it all you’ve got.
For you know what?
One day you’d find, that your best had been enough.

To the One Who Weeps Now

To the one who weeps now, to the one who endures,
To the one who keeps silent, because no one would hear,
To the one who is poor, to the one who is sad,
Know that one day you’ll laugh for you shall be glad.

To the one who hurts now, to the one who feels empty
To the one who has nothing but the clothes on his back,
To the one who craves for all that you’ve lost,
Know that one day there’ll be nothing more you shall lack.

To the one who suffers because justice is blind,
To the one cast away just because she is kind,
To the one who is chained, to the one left behind
Know that one day you’d have what on earth you can’t find.

There is more to this life than what our eyes can see,
There is more to the future in store for you and for me,
Righteousness and peace shall kiss, mercy and truth shall meet,
And for all who lived in love, their joy shall be complete!
