To Look Beyond

“Whatever in our life is hardest to bear, love can transform into beauty.” – Corrie ten Boom

Past The Ragged Ends

There’s a wonderful view just up these mountains
past the rough roads, and ’round the bend,
But you’ll never see it, unless you climb it
and unless you make your way to the very end.

There’s a beautiful soul just within him
past all the sketchy and rough edges
But you’ll never see it, until you seek it
unless you look past all the ragged ends.

The body is sown perishable; it is raised imperishable. It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. – 1 Corinthians 15, WEBBE

A Time To Hide

“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. . . . Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe.” – Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

When we experience difficult times, we often hear people say that things are going to be alright, and maybe they will, just not at the moment, not yet. And though we want to show the world we still have some sliver of hope, some strength remaining, we just want some time away. For there is a time to rest, isn’t it? It isn’t always daylight, and the season doesn’t always fall into spring.

When It’s Night

When life just feels so dreary,
and the world, so dark and sad,
And the load you bear is so heavy,
and you’re just bruised and broken bad.

Take heart and rest awhile,
and if your heart is broken, you can cry.
No one ever said we must always smile,
no one ever said there’d be no night.

For there are times of joy and times of trouble,
there are days when you just feel so tired.
You have tried and tried and tried,
you did all you could with all your might!

Take heart and give yourself some time,
give yourself some space to hide.
No one ever said we must always toil,
no one ever said we must always shine.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.”
-Psalm 91, WEBBE

Wait In Hope

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
– St. Teresa of Avila

I Will Wait

I will be patient
I will wait, Dear Lord,
For I know
I don’t wait in vain.

You always keep
Your promises
I have no right
To complain.

I will not be fooled
By the things I see
I will not be disheartened
By the darkness surrounding me.

But I will put my trust in You
And I will wait
I will be patient, Dear Lord
For I do not wait in vain.

For though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! – Habakkuk 3:17-18, WEB

See what is going to happen from now on. Although there is no grain left, and the grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced, yet from now on I will bless you.” – Haggai 2, GNT

My Small Gift

“Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.” – Mother Teresa

Five Loaves and Two Fishes

Five loaves and two fishes
These are all I have
And I didn’t think they’d matter much
When there are thousands to be fed.

Five loaves and two fishes
And I was ashamed to ask
If somehow they could help
To feed those hungry men

But You took them in Your hands
And you blessed them
And offered them
To heaven.

And everyone ate ’til everyone’s full
And everyone believed
That you loved them
Cause you fed them.

And all these out of my small gift
The ones I thought didn’t matter
With five loaves and two fishes
You satisfied the hunger of men.

“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these amongst so many?”
Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.” So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. – John 6, WEBBE

When Dreams Fade

“The world breaks everyone and afterwards many are strong at the broken places.”- Ernest Hemingway

Try

When dreams die,
as they sometimes do,
when the plans you’ve made
and when the things you’ve built
just seem to fade,
do not leave,
it is not the end.

When hopes disappear,
as they sometimes do,
when everything you’ve prayed for
and every seed you’ve sown,
just seem to wither away,
do not quit,
you can try again.

For those dreams that died,
they’d give way to bigger dreams,
as the things that have fallen,
will make greater things arise.
You may cry for a while,
but you will mend.
When the night is over,
a bright new morn will shine!

Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up. – Galatians 6, WEBBE
