Light Of The World

You are the light of the world. – Matthew 5, WEBBE

That Little Thing You Did

That little thing you did,
that little smile,
You thought it didn’t matter,
but it got through,
and thanks to you,
her day was not so blue.

That little thing you did,
that little letter,
You thought it wasn’t written well,
it wasn’t perfect,
But it didn’t need to be perfect,
to let him know he was loved.

That little thing you did,
that little poem,
It hardly made a rhyme,
You thought no one would read it,
But somebody did and somebody thought about it,
And now his life was spared
by a poem that did not rhyme.

How many good things have not been done
just because we thought
what we do is too little?
How many beautiful things
were left unsaid
just because we thought they wouldn’t rhyme?

Do not forget the little things
even the broken and imperfect ones.
God uses the little things
to accomplish His greatest work,
And it is the broken that can mend
the deepest wounds of men.

We often think we receive graces and are divinely illumined by means of brilliant candles. But from whence comes their light? From the prayers, perhaps, of some humble, hidden soul, whose inward shining is not apparent to human eyes; a soul of unrecognized virtue and, in her own sight, of little value – a dying flame. – St. Therese of Lisieux

God Knows Our Needs

Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him. – Matthew 6, WEBBE

The Things We Need

Sometimes we seem to be lost
We can’t find what we’re looking for
And even if we find it,
We still feel we’ve missed it,
We’ve missed what it was we really need.

And what is it that we need?
We need to know that
Despite our many sins
We can still be forgiven.
We need to know we are loved.
We need to find justice.
And not only justice
But mercy
Mercy that meets with Truth.
We need to know that there is
really such a thing as goodness
And beauty
And purity.
And that somehow,
There are still good things
That can last forever.

These are the things we need.
And God knows our needs
Even before we learn about them
Even before we finally found
The wisdom
And the courage
To ask.

“See that I am God. See that I am in everything. See that I do everything. See that I have never stopped ordering my works, nor ever shall, eternally. See that I lead everything on to the conclusion I ordained for it before time began, by the same power, wisdom and love with which I made it. How can anything be amiss?”

His Banner Is Love

To walk with God is to grow in the awareness of His love for me. It is to grow from wanting to believe to being able to believe, from having the knowledge of His love to having the sweet experience of His presence. There is no end to knowing Him, there is no end to the joy of walking with God. – Jocelyn Soriano

When I Feel Your Love

When I feel your love
I feel alive
And my life has depth and meaning
And all is beautiful and good
And lasting

When I feel your love
The simple life
Is a glorious life
And I don’t need
Anything more
Or anyone else
To fulfill me

When I feel your love
I feel as though
I could soar
It’s the only fitting thing to do
To meet you
To keep you
To fall over and over again
In a love that is so
Achingly beautiful and true.

I sat down under his shadow with great delight,
his fruit was sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banquet hall.
His banner over me is love.
-Song of Solomon 2, WEBBE

Good Things Remain

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15, WEBBE

Remember

Everyday, you have to remember
the really important things.
Otherwise, you will begin to see
only the little irritations,
the clouds, the illusions
and you begin to believe
that these are all you have.

So everyday, try to remember.
Remember who you are.
Remember what you’re made of.
Remember how you’ve survived
so many problems and dreary days before.
Don’t let anyone else
make you forget your worth.

Remember where you’re headed for,
all those dreams now living
within your soul.
Remember how each step you make
takes you closer to where you
have always wanted to be.
Let no one steal your dreams away.
Remember them today.

Remember Him who loves you so.
How nobody else can fill
His place within your heart.
Remember His eyes,
how He gazes upon you with love.
And that’s enough,
more than enough,
to carry you through
the saddest days.
Let no one make you forget
You are loved,
You are precious,
in someone else’s eyes.

Everyday, when you start
to feel as though
your happiness is fading away,
As though your life
loses its very meaning,
Remember, Remember all the
precious things you have.
Let no soul ever take away
your faith.
Believe and Remember!
Beyond all the passing shadows,
the beautiful things remain.

“I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.”
– Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

The Courageous Ones

“I plead with you–never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid.” – Pope John Paul II

I salute you, courageous one. You’ve been broken bad. Tired and bruised and wounded. You’ve been terribly crushed. But you held your ground. You did not give up.

I salute you, courageous one. You’ve been cast away. You knew what it was to suffer loneliness. But you chose to stand alone than join in and give your faith away.

I salute you, courageous one. You’ve worked so hard to do good. You saw no fruit to your labors, but you were not dismayed.

I salute you, courageous one. You’ve been hurt so many times. Betrayed by those whom you’ve loved. But you never lost hope. You did not close your heart.

I salute you, courageous one. After working all these years, you’ve received no applause, you’ve received no reward. But you carry on. Each day you still do what is right.

I salute you, courageous one. Others thought you’re weak. Others thought you’re mad. But you knew your true strength and you’ve used it. You were mighty within and that’s more than enough.

The LORD is my light and my salvation.
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life.
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh,
even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.
Though an army should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear.
Though war should rise against me,
even then I will be confident.
-Psalm 27, WEBBE
