Memories That Make You Smile

goodmemories2

“Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.” – L.M. Montgomery

Our good memories are not meant to make us happy only once. They are always there to touch us one more time and make us remember our greatest joys and our biggest triumphs.

Memories are fountains from which we can always draw upon inspiration, gladness and meaning. They remind us how we were able to overcome many difficulties. They call us back to those days when we have dreamt our greatest dreams, dreams not everyone else believed, but which we achieved anyway, to the surprise of all.

It is good to remember those happy times when the present moment seems to knock us down and make us believe that the problems we’re facing are all there could ever be in life.

It is good to remember those times of courage when the present challenges question our spirit and how far we could still carry on.

Remember his marvelous works that he has done,
his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth…
-1 Chronicles 16:12, WEB

This Too Shall Pass

shallpass2

The grass withers,
the flower fades;
but the word of our God stands forever.
-Isaiah 40:8

Whenever we encounter some problems in life, we have a tendency to see it as something lasting. Even if it is just a little inconvenience, a small offense or a slight delay from our plans, we tend to magnify it and let it frustrate the other things we still have going in our lives.

Don’t let small things ruin a great day. Don’t let little misunderstandings destroy a good relationship. And don’t let temporary disappointments discourage you from reaching your great dreams.

This, too, shall pass. Night gives way into day. Rain gives way into the sun shining even more brightly than it did before the storm.

Always try to see the more important things, those things that last. And don’t let the small sorrows in life hinder you from attaining eternal joys.

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
— St. Teresa of Avila

God’s Promise Of Strength

bronzewall

If you return and be quiet, you shall be saved: in silence and in hope shall your strength be. – Isaiah 30:15 (DRB)

Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, Yahweh, The Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
– Isaiah 40:28-31 (WEB)

Therefore Yahweh says, If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take out the precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth. They shall return to you, but you shall not return to them.
I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; and they shall fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says Yahweh.
I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.
– Jeremiah 15:19-21 (WEB)

If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;
and if you pour out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then your light will rise in darkness, and your obscurity will be as the noonday;
and Yahweh will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters don’t fail.
– Isaiah 58:9-11 (WEB)

Yahweh upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down. – Psalm 145:14 (WEB)

I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from?
My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul.
Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.
-Psalm 121 (WEB)

Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22 (WEB)

Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like.
He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.
– Luke 6:47-48 (WEB)

He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. – II Corinthians 12:9 (WEB)

Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, Yahweh, have not forsaken those who seek you.
– Psalm 9:9-10 (WEB)

As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. – Psalm 18:30 (WEB)

The Gift Of Your Presence

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“There are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our encouragement, who will need our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give.” – Leo Buscaglia

There is something in your presence that just couldn’t compare with anything else. It is not merely the words you say. It is not merely the things you do. It is who you are that is there – body, mind, heart and soul, all of you that the other person gets to sense and witness, even before you say a single word.

And this is just what a lot of people need today. Presence. Availability. Time.

You can give another person all the money in the world, but it could never compare to the gift of your presence.

Remember this whenever you feel that you have nothing worth giving. You always have something to give, a very valuable gift indeed. Consider giving people the very gift of your presence.

“A strange thing has happened, do you know? I am in darkness. There is a person who, departing, took away the sun.” – Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

In your presence is fullness of joy.
In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.
-Psalm 16:11, WEB

Let Your Words Heal

graciouswords2

“A compliment is something like a kiss through a veil.”- Victor Hugo

Quite often, it takes but a few words of appreciation to make someone else’s day. Just a few words. Simple words that uplift the soul. Words that seem to say, “You are noticed. You matter. You are here and someone is thankful that you are.”

We don’t need to flatter anyone, we only need to tell the truth. Yet why is it that when we say we should tell the truth, we often tell the truth only when it hurts? Is there not much truth also that is beautiful but often left unsaid?

A single word can heal or break someone’s heart. How often do we utter words that heal?

“Because even the smallest of words can be the ones to hurt you, or save you.” – Natsuki Takaya

Gracious words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
-Proverbs 16:24, NIV
