The Unseen God

the unseen god

Have you ever wondered why God is invisible? Why can’t we just see Him or even hear Him? Wouldn’t it have been better to be able to hear exactly what He wants us to do in our lives? But then again, do we really want that to happen?

The truth is that God is not invisible! He is only invisible because we wanted Him that way. We don’t want God meddling in our affairs or even showing His approval or disapproval in what we do. We want independence and freedom. We want to be apart from God!

Yet is God really apart from us? Not at all. God is watching us ever more closely, though with a veil so as not to be seen by those who don’t want to see Him. But in moments when we can’t take it anymore, in those moments in our lives when we’ve done all we could and achieved everything we felt like achieving and still felt empty, God is still there, ready to listen and to take us back. All we need is to approach the unseen God so we can finally see clearly the meaning of our lives.

Is Your iPod Like Your Soul?

ipod

I’ve just recorded my favorite songs, pictures and movies in my iPod. It’s a sort of collection that I wish to take with me wherever I may go. Somehow, it came about with my previous plans of migrating into another country. Yeah, these songs aren’t only songs. They represent a certain part of me I do not wish to forget.

It’s with this thought that I’ve realized how this iPod is very much like our memories, memories that become imprinted in our soul. Which memories do we want to keep? Which would we rather discard and forget?

In your iPod for instance, what kind of music or photos have you stored in there? Are these really the most important songs and pictures you wish to keep and remember? What does it reflect that you value most in your life?

By trying to store certain videos or scenes, I was also trying to keep the feelings associated with them, feelings and thoughts that have helped shaped who I am today. Scenes of Christmas for instance, and how warmly and strongly it’s being celebrated in my hometown. Scenes of love and family is another. Though I be far away, I know I wouldn’t depart from those on a soul level. Most important of all are scenes of my home, the laughter and the fellowship that can never be replaced elsewhere.

If you are to start collecting the most important scenes you’d like to keep forever, which shall they be?

A Poem from the Inspirer

There was once a troubled fellow who came to ask the Inspirer for help.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life. Please help me,” the troubled fellow asked.

To this the Inspirer responded by writing something in a piece of parchment. After writing for some time, the troubled fellow was finally given the Inspirer’s answers as he received the parchment. To his surprise however, he saw that he merely received a poem.

What is this? I sought for answers and all you gave me was a poem! I want a step by step guide on what to do. Can’t you see how lost I am?”

After a short pause, the Inspirer answered, ”Had I given you what you asked, you wouldn’t have followed it anyway. You don’t need a manual. Deep within your heart, you know what you should do. There is a little voice there that needs only be awakened. The poem I gave you is not for instructions, but for awakening.”

The Kite Runner

kitelaunch

I’m glad to have watched the award-winning film THE KITE RUNNER. It certainly deserves its citation.

At first, I thought it would be one of those boring too-deep-for-me movies that could do nothing but lull me to sleep. It turns out that it is something that would wake up very strong thoughts and feelings in me.

The story focuses around two boys – Amir and Hassan, and of a friendship that helped them become the best of themselves. It showed Hassan’s devotion to his friend, even as a child, a virtue he would pass on to his friend who would need to redeem himself later on as a man.

I loved that the message came along so subtly, not forced nor preachy as other goody-goody films do. I also loved the fact that it centered around FRIENDSHIP, a relationship many people nowadays aren’t familiar with anymore.

I’m really glad it did not package love in a romantic formula, the only type of love most people recognize these days. It didn’t use the easy angle of packaging love as a sexual romance, the film was definitely not about that!

The film was about being human, of creating serious mistakes and of being able to grow from those mistakes, becoming a better person in the process. The film was about friendship, devotion and loyalty that doesn’t need any sexual angle to make it deep and meaningful.

The Kite Runner. We all run our own kites, don’t we? With whom do we run? And for whom are we running for?
