Failed expectations

What ails your heart, O, woman
and what ails your heart, O, man
expectations
that could not be met
needs that could not be satisfied
Did you think that by finding each other,
you could claim back your joy
in the garden of eden?
Did you think that by having found
each other,
you could reunite with your lost half
and finally be complete?
Nay, I say unto you,
for it is not each other that you have lost in the garden
and it is not each half that could
complete your empty soul
It is God’s presence that you have lost
and it is only in God
where you can find your bliss
once more.

Can We Have Peace in This Lifetime?

But the peace which is peculiar to ourselves we enjoy now with God by faith, and shall hereafter enjoy eternally with Him by sight. But the peace which we enjoy in this life, whether common to all or peculiar to ourselves, is rather the solace of our misery than the positive enjoyment of felicity. Our very righteousness, too, though true in so far as it has respect to the true good, is yet in this life of such a kind that it consists rather in the remission of sins than in the perfecting of virtues. Witness the prayer of the whole city of God in its pilgrim state, for it cries to God by the mouth of all its members, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”1306 And this prayer is efficacious not for those whose faith is “without works and dead,”1307 but for those whose faith “worketh by love.”1308 For as reason, though subjected to God, is yet “pressed down by the corruptible body,”1309 so long as it is in this mortal condition, it has not perfect authority over vice, and therefore this prayer is needed by the righteous. For though it exercises authority, the vices do not submit without a struggle. For however well one maintains the conflict, and however thoroughly he has subdued these enemies, there steals in some evil thing, which, if it does not find ready expression in act, slips out by the lips, or insinuates itself into the thought; and therefore his peace is not full so long as he is at war with his vices. For it is a doubtful conflict he wages with those that resist, and his victory over those that are defeated is not secure, but full of anxiety and effort. Amidst these temptations, therefore, of all which it has been summarily said in the divine oracles, “Is not human life upon earth a temptation?”1310 who but a proud man can presume that he so lives that he has no need to say to God, “Forgive us our debts?” And such a man is not great, but swollen and puffed up with vanity, and is justly resisted by Him who abundantly gives grace to the humble. Whence it is said, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.”1311 In this, then, consists the righteousness of a man, that he submit himself to God, his body to his soul, and his vices, even when they rebel, to his reason, which either defeats or at least resists them; and also that he beg from God grace to do his duty,1312 and the pardon of his sins, and that he render to God thanks for all the blessings he receives. But, in that final peace to which all our righteousness has reference, and for the sake of which it is maintained, as our nature shall enjoy a sound immortality and incorruption, and shall have no more vices, and as we shall experience no resistance either from ourselves or from others, it will not be necessary that reason should rule vices which no longer exist, but God shall rule the man, and the soul shall rule the body, with a sweetness and facility 420
suitable to the felicity of a life which is done with bondage. And this condition shall there be eternal, and we shall be assured of its eternity; and thus the peace of this blessedness and the blessedness of this peace shall be the supreme good.
-CITY OF GOD, St. Augustine

What Destiny Awaits You?

For how long can you be happy in this life?

For how long can positive thoughts sustain you?

Will you be able to escape the aging years ahead?

Will you be able to escape your death?

Will you be able to escape the death of those around you

and bear the pain of their passing away?

Will you not grieve when your loved one passes away?

Will you not miss them?

Where shall you find your comfort in the end?

Shall you find it in the thought that they are not really gone,

but shall take on new personalities someday, somewhere, in another lifetime?

Personalities that knew you not

Personalities that have not your memory

nor the remembrance of your love

Shall you find comfort that they might go unto the Absolute

somewhere where all shall finally be merged as one,

energies pulsating, being absorbed unto the whole,

mere energies that sink and rise without end

without form

without persons you’ve wanted to love and to be with forever

No, you shall not.

You cannot

and even if you say you can,

you would have lost this one thing:

You would have lost

what true love

really means

Where Do We Find Confidence?

How beautiful must you be

so you can see yourself as beautiful?

How smart must you be

so you find the confidence to say

that you have it in you

to succeed

How much studies must you undertake

how many certificates and titles must you acquire

how many languages

how many skills

how excellent

how fast

and how creative

so you can find the security to say

that in this fast

and changing world

you are doing well

and that you are at par

with the rest

who are trying so hard

as you do

trying to please

trying to excel

trying to be the very best

where the very best

could not be found

among those who try

to be the best.

It is never enough

It never will be enough

for true confidence

could not be found

in the exaltation of the self

or in the perfection we desire

but which eludes us the more

the more we try to grasp it

Only in Jesus

do we find rest

only in Him

do we find

the strength

the purpose

and the power

to accomplish

all things

for the perfect good

of all.

The Great Tribulation – three days of darkness

The asteroid
called Apophis could hit the Earth in 28 years (year 2036).

Apophis, in Egptian myth, was the
ancient spirit of evil and destruction that was determined to plunge the world
into eternal darkness.

If it hits the earth and lands in
the Atlantic with a force almost equal to 100,000 Hiroshima bombs,
the effects would be catastrophic ranging from kilometre-high waves that would
destroy coastlines, vaporised seawater that falls as rain destroying
world crops, and a thick cloud of dust that would darken the skies
indefinitely
.

Current reports calculate
an estimate of 1 in 45,000 chance of it hitting the earth

Additional observations provided
improved predictions that eliminated the possibility of an impact on Earth or
the Moon in 2029. However there remained a possibility that during the 2029
close encounter with Earth, Apophis would pass through a gravitational keyhole,
a precise region in space no more than about 400 meters across, that would
set up a future impact on April 13, 2036.

Notice then, the similarity of the above impact to the following prophecies:

Fire and smoke will fall from heaven, and the waters of the ocean
will turn to steam
, throwing their foam to the very sky. Whatever is
standing will be overturned. Millions of people will die. Those surviving will
envy the dead. Distress, misery and desolation will be found the world over.
(Neues Europa, Our Lady’s message at Fatima)

But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the
sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the
beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those
days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s
sake those days shall be shortened. –Matthew 24:20-22

[“Be not in the winter”, for if the skies would darken indefinitely,
would it not be very cold indeed?]

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened,
and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from
heaven
, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken… -Matthew 24:29

This asteroid orbits the sun once every 323 days and has about one or
two of the 16 crossover points (with Earth) every 7 Earth years that
deserves recurrent monitoring.  Who can
avert its path if it crosses ours?  The
day the angels dread may well be on its way, and man speaks of peace, wealth
and power as though his time would never come to an end.
