Poem of Grieving Loss of a Loved One
where would you go
that i cannot follow?
for how long must i wait
until we meet again?
what would i do
in times that i miss you?
where would i go
in times when i long to see you again?
how must i spend
the nights without you?
how do i bear
each morning that you’re not there?
shall i ever smile again?
will i ever laugh again?
will i ever face the world again
knowing that im not alone?
why must you leave me?
why must i cry these tears
when you’re not here
to wipe them all away?
why must i suffer
the empty days without my beloved?
why must i dream
without you by my side?
the days shall never be the same again
i will never be the same again
without you
the life of my soul,
the joy of my heart,
the light in my eyes,
the hope of my dreams,
the comfort of my lonely nights,
without you my beloved,
i grieve and cry,
i grope and stumble in the dark,
i weep with all my soul
i desire with all my heart
i let go of all of me that you took away with you
i keep all of you that is in me,
and will always remain in me
wherever i may go
i wait and pray and hope
i will look forward to each brand new day
thankful for all that i’ve had and will always have
thankful for the sun that shines again
believing and hanging on
believing that life will go on
it can’t help but go on
it shall go on
and in so going
there really is no end
only mornings and evenings
and life that never ever ends.
The above Poem on Grieving Loss of a Loved One was written by Jocelyn Soriano and included in her book IN YOUR HOUR OF GRIEF. For all of those who have loved ones who died and left, may you find comfort. For all of those who mourn and grieve, may your bereavement pave the way to healing and for new insights towards eternity and the things we carry with us wherever we may go.
When You’re Grieving The Loss of a Loved One
Grief, particularly the sadness of grieving the loss of a loved one, is one of the darkest hours we could ever experience. It is something that goes beyond our comprehension, something so devastating it destroys the most beautiful dreams we have ever had with and for our beloved ones.
How does one go on after such a loss? How does one survive the empty vacuum our loved ones have left behind? Is there any valid meaning we could possibly attribute to death?
Let this book be like a comforting friend for you, someone who knows just how painful it is to experience what you’re going through. I may not be physically with you, but through this book’s comforting words, may you be hugged with a warmth that reaches your heart, soothing the aches within, whispering words of hope and of a renewed sense of connection with that part of you that seemed to have been suddenly lost.

Your poem said everything I’ve been feeling, but couldn’t put into words. My boyfriend went home to Trinidad to visit his family 1 1/2yrs ago and was murdered on his vacation. He never came home and was burried in his country days later. I couldn’t find the strength to go to his funeral, and for this reason, have had a difficult time coping. Aside from that, no one understands what this feel like. Sometimes it feels like a dream, a bad dream. Thank you for your poem!
I just lost my husband. And it’s really painful. Reading your poem gives me hope but tears in my eyes. I can’t help but remember all our times together, I pray only that I can go on with life without any regret. Life with him was really a happy one, but it was cut short. Thank you for your poem.

I lost my beloved husband on October 2nd from Pancreatic Cancer. This grief has become unbearable. Thank you for your comforting words and for the poem.
Barbara, I lost my dad in Jan 2006 to Pancreatic Cancer, a dreaded disease. Healing is in finding the joy and appreciation of the wonderful memories, and the wait until we all meet again. I speak to my dad often and I know, that while he has moved on to the realms of heaven, he has never really left me.
Wow, i find these poems so comforting. I feel really lost, my gran passed away almost two and a half years ago yet i still grieve so much. I feel so lost and empty inside, i can’t talk to people about her, its just to hard. When she died i didn’t just lose my gran, i lost my best friend too. She meant so much to me, yet all the time down the line, i’m still not ready to let go of her. These poems are so easy to relate to, wonderful words!
i love it, I’d love to use it along with “For Annie” by Edgar Aleen Poe for forensics at school…. its beautiful!!! :’)
