Day 21: Rest in God’s Refuge (Devotional for the Sick)

Bible Verse:
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of distress; he protects those who take refuge in him.”
Nahum 1:7 (NABRE)

Reflection:
Nahum 1:7 offers a comforting picture of God as a refuge and stronghold during times of trouble. In this verse, God’s goodness is coupled with His role as a protector, providing a secure place for those who seek refuge in Him. This image of God as a stronghold highlights His role as a steadfast source of protection and security.

When we face distress or difficulties, it’s natural to seek out places or people for comfort and support. However, Nahum reminds us that God Himself is the ultimate refuge, offering a sanctuary where we can find safety and peace. His goodness ensures that His protection is not only effective but also compassionate and attentive to our needs.

By taking refuge in God, we acknowledge that He is our ultimate source of security and comfort. This verse invites us to trust in His ability to shelter us from harm and to find solace in His presence.

As you reflect on this verse, consider how you can seek refuge in God amidst your own challenges. Allow His strength and protection to envelop you, knowing that He is a reliable stronghold in every season of distress.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for being my stronghold and refuge in times of distress. Help me to take shelter in You and to find peace and security in Your presence. When I am overwhelmed, remind me of Your goodness and protection. I trust in Your ability to keep me safe and to provide comfort during my struggles. Amen.
