Bible Verse:
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:4 (WEBBE)
Reflection:
Grief brings with it an overwhelming sense of loss, pain, and mourning. It is a part of life that touches everyone at some point, and when it does, it feels as if the sadness may never end. In the depths of grief, it can be hard to imagine a future where there is no pain or sorrow. But Revelation 21:4 offers us a glimpse into God’s promise for a future beyond our current suffering: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”
This verse speaks to the hope we have as believers, a promise that there will come a day when grief and pain are no more. The reality of life here on earth is that suffering is inevitable, but it is not the end of the story. God assures us that a time will come when every tear will be wiped away, when the mourning, crying, and pain we experience now will be replaced by peace and joy. This is a hope we can hold onto in the darkest moments of grief, knowing that God’s promises are true and that He is faithful to fulfill them.
While we may not be able to escape our current suffering, we can find comfort in knowing that God is with us in our pain and that He has prepared a future where grief will be no more. In the meantime, let this verse encourage you to take heart and hold on to the hope of what’s to come. Let it remind you that God’s love is greater than any sorrow we face today.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You for Your promise that one day there will be no more pain, no more mourning, and no more tears. Even as I grieve, I cling to the hope that You are preparing a place of peace and joy where suffering will be no more. Comfort me in my pain today, and help me to look forward to Your promise of renewal. I trust that You are with me in this moment, and I am grateful for Your unfailing love. Amen.
Course of Action for Today:
Spend a few moments meditating on Revelation 21:4 and the hope it brings. Imagine what life would be like without pain and grief. Reflect on how this future promise can provide you with comfort today. You might find it helpful to write down one way you can remind yourself of this hope throughout your day, whether through a simple prayer, listening to calming music, or looking at a photo or place that reminds you of the peace God promises.
Reflection Question:
How can you let the hope of a future without pain and mourning bring comfort to your heart today?
