“If God were our one and only desire we would not be so easily upset when our opinions do not find outside acceptance.”- Thomas Kempis, The Imitation of Christ
Our emotional stability must not be based on the opinion of men. Such opinions often change and are as fleeting as the wind. Also, they can’t always be counted upon to be right. For it is not the quantity of opinion that counts. What shall always matter is the truth.
If we need to hear the truth, let us seek the opinion of God. He is Truth itself, and will never lie. His opinion is not based on any selfish agenda nor is it influenced by fame or wealth.
We can always find peace once we put God’s opinion as the foundation of our decisions in life. His voice is true and pleasant and perfect. It is filled with wisdom and with love.
Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue, for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise. – John 12:42-43, WEB
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ. – Galatians 1:10, WEB
