Too Grownup For Heaven

Have you become too much of a grownup for heaven? Have you lost the innocence and faith of a little child who believes in the generosity of one’s Father?

Many times, we experience so much disappointment in life that we forget how it’s like to dream like a little child. We feel we’re too much of a grownup to expect good things. We tag ourselves as “realists”. We dismiss our heart’s deepest desires as something that is too good to be true.

We then walk around defeated while steeped in our own pride of not needing to ask anything. We ask nothing, dream of nothing, and we wonder why we never receive anything. The truth is, even if we are given something, we immediately reject it for fear that we’d only lose it in the end.

Even just for today, try to remember how it’s like to be like a little child. Don’t be afraid to dream and to seek good things. Remember that you have a Father in heaven who loves you. A Father who will never refuse the joy of heaven to any child who believes enough to ask.

“Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.” – Matthew 18:3
