Forget Not To Be Human

forgetnothuman

We must not forget the things that make us human. Friends, family, love – these are the things that truly give meaning to our lives.

Our humanity is a gift. We may experience moments of weakness or pain. We may get frustrated at times for all the imperfections of life. But we must never forget the valuable things that we do have in this life.

Life is not all about efficiency and productivity. It is important to meet our goals, but we must never forget the substance of all our undertakings.

What are we really trying to accomplish? Are we forgetting something along the way?

To be human is not to be like a machine who can perfectly accomplish its tasks. It is to be able to rise from our falls again and again because we have a spirit that knows how to love, because we have a higher calling that reaches out towards eternity.

Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you tithe mint, and anise, and cummin, and have left the weightier things of the law; judgment, and mercy, and faith. These things you ought to have done, and not to leave those undone. – Matthew 23:23, DRB
