True Freedom

truefreedom

He that is kind is free, though he is a slave; he that is evil is a slave, though he be a king. – St. Augustine

True freedom is not in being able to do everything that we desire to do. It is not being able to do every evil. It is not in being able to harm others as we please. For where is freedom if we do not have peace within?

True freedom is in being able to do good. It is in being able to love others. It is in being free to speak words of comfort, of inspiration and of hope.

Only when we are free to do God’s will are we truly free. It is this freedom that breaks us from the chains of fear, hatred and emptiness. It is this freedom that gives us life, healing, the capacity to love and the infinite riches of God’s wisdom.

“If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36, WEB-BE
