My Youtube Channel

I just created my first two videos for my YouTube channel. It’s about my poem “At The End Of The Day.”  This one is with my own voice over:

At The End Of The Day

At the end of the day,
after all the work is done;
At the end of the day,
as we watch the setting sun;

After all the trials,
and after all the pain;
After all the struggles,
to make it through the day;

I thank God for peace and rest,
and for little smiles from you;
I thank God for rising stars,
and for little hugs from you;

For there is no blessing,
such as this I found so true:
It’s such a pleasure just walking home
at the end of the day with you!

Why Can’t God Answer Me?

It is through the most difficult trials that God often brings the sweetest discoveries of Himself.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?
My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer;
in the night season, and am not silent.
-Psalm 22:1-2, WEB

To be forsaken even by God. To be unable to understand why such an evil has to happen, has to be allowed to happen by the One Good God who can do all things. Why hasn’t He stopped this from happening? Why has He allowed me to be hurt like this? And where is He now when I need Him most of all?

But there is no answer. There is no sermon. There is no comfort. All that follows is silence.

What must a soul do? In all its pain, a soul cries out even louder. It hurls all its frustrations towards heaven. It narrates a long list of all the good deeds it has done, of all the noble acts that have been unrewarded. In frustration, the soul asks why such a punishment is given in return? The soul asks for justice and for mercy, but there is none. All that follows is silence.

Hanging upon the cross, Jesus uttered the same words, and asked the same question: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

I Can’t Tell You Why

I can’t tell you why
Things must happen the way they did,
Why this terrible pain
Must now break your heart.
I can’t tell you why
God is now silent as we speak,
Why He allowed such things
To happen to His child.

But I can tell you
How He loves you so,
And how He never changed
Through all these years.
I can tell you that
Though He seems so far
In truth He is with you
And never more so near.

So hold on through the shadows
And take heart through the night
Someone watches over you
And cares for you tonight
I can’t tell you why
He chose to be unseen
Or why He waits for tears to fall
But it can never be
because He doesn’t care
For we know His love
Is the greatest of them all!

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. – John 15, WEBBE

Love Is Never In Vain

It is never a waste to love! To love is beautiful. To love is good. To love is to become unselfish and to desire for the best in the other. What’s useless is to let regrets linger, to allow jealousy to enslave you, to try to possess that which must be free, and to hurt others in the end and thereby destroy that which is supposed to be the most beautiful thing of all.

Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. – 1 Cor. 13, WEB

It Is Never a Waste To Love

Do me this favor and tell me
It is never in vain to love.
Tell me I shouldn’t go on crying
For all the years I spent wishin’
For all the time I gave and gave
Without receiving anything in return.

Yes, do me this favor and tell me
That the love I gave wasn’t wasted.
That all this time I was doing
Something that has some meaning.
Some worth in the scheme of things.

And though I may not see
Any love returning
Though I may not know how or when
Things will turn out well,
I will hold on in faith believin’
That there is some good
in the scheme of things.
That the time we spend loving
Is a time worth spending
And the heart that has truly loved,
Will yield its harvest in the end.

Things Worth Fighting For!

May God give us the wisdom to tell the difference. For there are things we must let go, and there are things worth fighting for!

Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1, WEBBE

Something Worth Fighting For

There are two things
Worth doing in this life:
To find something worth fighting for,
And to fight for it with all your might!

For there is that one thing
That makes you feel alive
One love that blesses all your other loves
One song that burns within your heart.

There is something that helps you see
With a new pair of eyes
It helps you see what’s good and pure
It brings you closer to the light.

And you know it’s worth fighting for
You know you’d defend it with your life
For without it all is meaningless
All is empty and frightful and dark.

Other things may try
But they can never ever replace
That joyful peace, that quiet bliss
That gives without taking something beautiful away.

And so you gather all you have
You give it your all and you do not give up!
When you’ve found something worth fighting for
You fight for it with all your might!

“Are we not perhaps all afraid in some way? If we let Christ enter fully into our lives, if we open ourselves totally to him, are we not afraid that He might take something away from us? Are we not perhaps afraid to give up something significant, something unique, something that makes life so beautiful? Do we not then risk ending up diminished and deprived of our freedom? . . . No! If we let Christ into our lives, we lose nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing of what makes life free, beautiful and great… Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything. When we give ourselves to him, we receive a hundredfold in return. Yes, open, open wide the doors to Christ – and you will find true life.” – Pope Benedict XVI
