Things Worth Fighting For!

May God give us the wisdom to tell the difference. For there are things we must let go, and there are things worth fighting for!

Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1, WEBBE

Something Worth Fighting For

There are two things
Worth doing in this life:
To find something worth fighting for,
And to fight for it with all your might!

For there is that one thing
That makes you feel alive
One love that blesses all your other loves
One song that burns within your heart.

There is something that helps you see
With a new pair of eyes
It helps you see what’s good and pure
It brings you closer to the light.

And you know it’s worth fighting for
You know you’d defend it with your life
For without it all is meaningless
All is empty and frightful and dark.

Other things may try
But they can never ever replace
That joyful peace, that quiet bliss
That gives without taking something beautiful away.

And so you gather all you have
You give it your all and you do not give up!
When you’ve found something worth fighting for
You fight for it with all your might!

“Are we not perhaps all afraid in some way? If we let Christ enter fully into our lives, if we open ourselves totally to him, are we not afraid that He might take something away from us? Are we not perhaps afraid to give up something significant, something unique, something that makes life so beautiful? Do we not then risk ending up diminished and deprived of our freedom? . . . No! If we let Christ into our lives, we lose nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing of what makes life free, beautiful and great… Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything. When we give ourselves to him, we receive a hundredfold in return. Yes, open, open wide the doors to Christ – and you will find true life.” – Pope Benedict XVI
