I Tried To Run Away From Love (a poem)

I tried to run away from love,
I tried my best to flee…
For there seems to be no chance at all
That love can stay for you and me.

I tried to shelter my own heart,
I tried so hard to look away…
For only when we are apart
Can we be saved from all the pain.

But despite the things I’ve ever done,
Despite my will to go away,
I’ve realized I cannot run
While my heart yearns that it must stay.

So hear me now as I hold your hand;
Look in my eyes so you would see.
I tried to run away from love,
But love has stayed for you and me.
