Love is not blind (poem)

love is not blind poem 2012

LOVE IS NOT BLIND
there is someone
who understands you,
who sees you
even more than you can see yourself

his eyes are like clear mirrors
reflecting to you
the you he loves and sees

and though you are afraid at first,
your fears are vanquished
and you are able to see through his eyes
what you were afraid to see

love is not blind after all
for love sees more
love sees what no other sees

and looking through those eyes
you finally discover the person within

you discover
the one he loves
the one whose beauty
reaches deep within his soul

you discover
and you see yourself
and you love the more
the one who opened up your own eyes

the only one
who is able to reach your heart

I’ve titled this poem “Love is not Blind” because I believe that Love, more than the common notion of blinding us, opens up our eyes to that kind of beauty we’ve never seen before.  If love is blind, then it is blind only to our past blunders and faults, for love keeps no record of wrongs.

Hi, Jocelyn!
What a nice poem!
I’m so glad that you sometimes step by my blog!
Since you’ve left me comment on my new blog, I guess you were able to log in. I checked the link. All seems to be Ok.
I am still testing wordpress. There are things that I like, and things that Blogger does better.. Oh, where is that perfect platform?….
I see that you’ve started a webzine.
Once I get to know wordpress better, I’m definetely going to have a webzine there (they allow different pages)
Anyway, it was good to hear from you!
Ella

Dear Jocelyn,
This poem truly touched my heart for it came on the very right moment. I have just prayed and I believe the Lord has sent His assurance through this poem. It’s really assuring to know there’s someone who can see me more than myself…and loves me for who I am.
Dorene

I wish I could believe that was true;
But the one you speak of has left me barren.
He has made me poor.
And taken away my health.
He has made my brothers hate me
And taken away all the light from the world

Life is so bad, that I wish I lived in my dreams.
At least they fulfill my wishes
Darkness surrounds me
And time oppresses my soul
With every skipping heartbeat.

Death is all around me
The fetid odor of decomposing life
The sunlight does not shine on my body.
A faint chill is all I feel

Give me your God
With all his Love and Caring
And I’ll show you mine
Except at this moment
I can’t seem to find her.
Maybe she’s in the closet.
Hidden under those clothes
I meant to throw away
Thirteen years ago.

Thank you for honoring me with your words. I have no such words to return to you, nor the God that you seek at the moment. If I say I could give Him to you now, it’s like saying I can give you the sun though it’s not yet even dawn. I cannot say however that there is no sun, for it is there, even in the night, waiting for the appointed time to shine again. All I can urge you is to wait for the morning, for it will surely come. Before that happens, all that I could ever point to you are some stars and some little fireflies like me, flickering about, in all their insufficiency and insecurity, offering their feeble warmth, hoping it would be day soon and we can finally see each other in the light.

this poem is so touching.i want to be just like you.YOU HAVE JUST ADDED MORE HOPE TO ME to be an accomplished writer and a journalist.

Hope your sun will never stop shining may it be day or night.

madam i became your fan! please tell me how I can be a good writer like you? you are so creative. What are the things you observe or whose is your inspiration?

Your Comments I loved it, the vision of seeing what is essential…the only way to see people. Reminds me of, “The Little Prince” quote
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

@Ella’s Edge – I love that quote from THE LITTLE PRINCE, one of my favorite books I’d say. Truly, there are many things which only the heart can see, and that is why we should protect the purity of the heart even more, so it can see better and more beautiful things. 😉 Thanks for coming over, Ella.

Hello! Thanks for such a wonderful insights.
God bless you and continue to inspire us in every journey that we’re going through.
God’s grace be with you always!
