When We Still Believed In God

Image by Rudy and Peter Skitterians from Pixabay

There was a time when we had faith,
When we believed in God.
There were days of doubt,
There were days we suffered,
But our faith urged us on.

There was a time when we had hope,
When we believed in God.
It was not always easy,
Many days were dreary,
But our hope kept us warm.

There was a time when we had love,
When we believed in God.
There were times when we fought,
But we never gave up
We forgave because we loved.

Now our days are but fleeting fragments,
And all our joys are illusions we make
For all that we gained, we have lost our souls
O, how we used to be whole,
When we believed in God.
