Where Did The Nightmare Go?

Image by ???? Cdd20 from Pixabay

There are days when I forget.
Days that pass by
As though there’s nothing wrong…
The voices are silent,
The shadows turn back,
And the biting winds
Refuse to blow…
And I almost think
I’d be alright.

But just when
I’m beginning to smile a little,
Just when I’m beginning
To look into your eyes,
Soaking my soul
Into your light,
The screams return,
The darkness
Chokes me,
And I fall hard
Into the ground.

I wake up…
What’s the dream?
And what is not?
