A King Among His People

As I continue watching historical dramas, I learn more and more about what kings do and what his responsibilities are.  I also learn about how politics can play a role in hindering the king from knowing the true condition of his people.

There were many instances when I felt like urging the character of the king to go in disguise and see the people’s condition himself.  He should not rely only on what his ministers report to him.  He should see it for himself.

Then I remembered how God has done just that.  Even though He is already the All-Knowing God, He still chose to come down from heaven through His Son, Jesus Christ.  God has dwelled among His people.  He knows us and He cares for us so much more than any king will ever do.

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son. They shall call his name Immanuel;” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
