Hidden Treasures

We do all we can to avoid our crosses, all the problems life sends our way. But someday we will realize… the greatest treasures we can find here are right within the very mess of things, and just amidst all the painful and troubled times we were able to overcome.

For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory, while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. – 2 Corinthians 4, WEBBE

In This Dark Night

We are in the dark night, you and I,
and these are truly troubled times;
yet this is the night I knew you
and this is the night you knew all that’s mine.

In these troubled times,
you saw my weakness and my strength,
and you understood me far better
than on days when the sun was bright.

Yes, in this dark night we became closer,
as we held each other, you and I;
We became allies, we became friends,
as we fought together, side by side.

When the day comes, as it surely will,
I will gather the treasures I’ve found in the night,
in the darkness where I knew how to love,
as we held each other, you and I.
