Tears of Love

I see now that no person who has ever loved has ever been spared from tears.

“He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147, WEBBE

We know not love until we have cried, until that love has been crystallized in our tears.

Sometimes that tear comes from the fullness of joy, from having found something we never even hoped or dreamed.

But sometimes those tears come from being broken and crushed from deep within. And we wonder if we could ever be the same again.

I think we could never be the same again.

For love changes us.

It breaks us and opens us and tests us. It inspires us and crushes us. It seeks to know who we really are, and who we can really be.

And after love has found us, whether it stays or it departs, we know that it has forever changed us.

No one is spared from tears when one loves.

But if that love be true, no tear is ever bitter. We may feel its pain, but we will always savour a kind of sweetness that forever enriches our hearts.
